The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire’s Private Household
A rare opportunity has arisen of a trainee butler position within the private staff of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, based primarily at Chatsworth in Derbyshire.
This is a busy household, doing a great deal of entertaining on both a formal and informal basis and it is in this setting that you will learn the art of providing a first rate butler service; meeting, greeting and caring for a wide range of guests, providing a ‘home from home’ service at five star standards on all occasions.
You will be provided with in-house and external training, plus mentoring by our experienced team, led by the Head Butler.
Applicants should have some experience in hospitality, enjoy working within a team, be organized and pay attention to detail. The ability to maintain complete confidentiality is a prerequisite, as is a sense of humour.
The role is 5 days per week, including split shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays. Flexibility in hours of work will be required. An excellent package is available, including independent accommodation. A DBS check will be required.

Assistant Building Surveyor
Following the growth of the annual repair and capital expenditure programme, an exciting new role of Assistant Building Surveyor has been created
The Estate’s Building Surveyor is responsible for managing repairs, maintenance and capital projects as well as delivering development opportunities across the Estate’s property portfolio, while managing the Department’s annual expenditure. A high number of Bolton Abbey’s buildings are heritage assets, requiring considered and sensitive management.
The successful applicant is likely to have a minimum of five years’ relevant experience. They are also likely to be cheerful, have a good sense of humour while demonstrating good organisational and communicative skills.

Due to a new venture, we are looking for volunteers at Bolton Abbey. This is on behalf of the Devonshire Education Trust.
We are expanding our Education offering and so are in need of people to assist with school trips to the area.
Applicants need not have experience, however, a full DBS check will be undertaken.
