At Bolton Abbey we have been supporting farmers for generations
48 farm tenancies form and manage the rolling landscape of the Estate. 11 of these are dairy units with the remainder beef and sheep farms. The majority of the farmland is grade 3 or 4 from good quality meadow land to hillside pasture on moorland fringes.
The estate has and continues to encourage its farm tenants to diversify. Diversifications include campsites, bed and breakfasts, a livery yard, 4 X 4 garage and a farm park. These in turn support the local rural economy.
