The moment has finally arrived for this little girl to talk to Father Christmas

Now don’t get too comfy. You need to know something before it smacks you right between the mince pies. Yes, the worst kept secret is out. Christmas is just over the horizon. The countdown has started and there’s no time like the present to shake a leg.

So, do yourself a favour and start planning your Christmas with us at Bolton Abbey. Leaving no stone unturned, we want you to have an experience that’s extra special right down to the minutest glittery sparkly detail.

And what makes Christmas extra special is a visit from the great man Father Christmas himself naturally.

As our special guest and VIP he’ll be staying at our very cosy and warm log cabin tucked away in the heart of the village under twinkling Christmas lights. And while his diary’s already bursting at the seams, being the decent kind of guy we all know he is, he’ll do everything he can to squeeze as many of you in, but only if your children are good.

For those lucky ones already going, they can look forward to a bushcraft adventure starting with the lighting of a communal fire, and a chance to talk to the great man too!

Tickets though have been selling like hotcakes, or should that be roasted chestnuts. There’s just a handful left. So, you’d better be quick. Because once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Chill out with our 12 day carol woodland puzzle

Christmas as you know can be something of a mad dash getting to the finishing line. So, to escape the mayhem, we think we’ve got something you can take at a more leisurely pace just chilling with your children, family and friends on a woodland walk while giving the old grey matter a bit of a gentle workout.

Inspired by the much-loved carol, the 12 Days of Christmas returns to Strid Wood inviting you to unlock and unravel our festive mystery with a series of clues.

To take part, just make sure you pick up your activity sheet from one of our car park kiosks. The activity’s all included in the parking fee, so you don’t have anything extra to pay. Pre-booking is best as we’re going to be pretty busy. Besides, it’s cheaper if you book before the day of your visit. Then when you finish, to warm yourselves up, why not grab a hot drink and a treat at the Cavendish Pavilion. And if you’re going to see Father Christmas, and we hope you are, you should have plenty of time while you’re with us to head out on our festive trail.

But we understand you might not have the time to do it all in one visit so we’ll keep the 12 days trail open all the way through December and into the new year.

Good wreath! Now that’s a great gift!

Finding something original as a Christmas gift can be pretty laborious, so if you’re looking for a little inspiration, maybe we can help.

At our artisan Christmas markets you’ll find a selection of local produced unique gifts and seasonal treats from cakes and hand poured candles to wreath and table decorations, while the Devonshire Spa and Arms have quite a few gift vouchers for the mind, body and taste buds!

Stuck for ideas? Our artisan Christmas markets offering locally produced gifts might just have something you never even thought about buying

Actually, talking of wreaths, if you’re feeling creative, maybe you’d like to make one at our Christmas workshop.

You don’t need any previous experience and, with the help of our RHS Chelsea silver medallist expert, we’ll guide you every step of the way to create your own eco-friendly masterpiece that’ll make you the talk of the town! Or village for that matter!

Want to stay a bit longer? Let’s see what we can do!

Together with everything else you can see, do and enjoy at Bolton Abbey, it makes you wonder how you’re going to find the time to squeeze it all into one day. And that’s a fair point.

There’s just nothing cosier on a cold winter’s day than settling down down to a crackling fire, and perhaps a wee dram, or whatever takes your fancy

Well, you don’t have to because if you’re thinking of spending a little time away to recharge and rejuvenate, why not stay a bit longer at one of our wonderful holiday cottages, or let us take good care of you with a comfortable and relaxing hotel break at the Devonshire Arms and Devonshire Fell.

Check out our different packages to suit your needs. Whether you’re thinking of staying over for the big day itself, between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve or to celebrate the start of a new year with a piper and a fireworks display, we think you can find what you’re looking for.

And that’s your Christmas, all neatly packaged and gift-wrapped for you.

Even if it’s just for a few hours or as long as a few days, plan and share a Christmas to remember with your loved ones at Bolton Abbey.
