Thank you for your support as we re-open!
11/06/2020Like many communities, we have been really inspired at how businesses across the Bolton Abbey Estate have adapted during this unprecedented time. Here’s a round-up of businesses based on the Estate still safely providing services:
Tea on the Green is, of course, closed as a café, but it has quickly adapted and now offers a fruit and vegetable delivery service. Additional items such as bread, yoghurts and toilet roll can be added to your order too. They deliver to Ilkley, Otley, Burley in Wharfedale, Silsden, Steeton, Cross Hills, Cowling, Lothersdale, Embsay and Addingham – again if you’re not on that list email cath@teaonthegreenba.co.uk. Head here to find out more and read the full order of available items.
Love Brownies’ HQ is based near Barden at the North end of the Estate. While their shops have closed you can order online for home delivery of their delicious brownies. Head here to treat yourself.
For the first time in over 850 years, the Priory Church has suspended services in person but you can listen to audio services on YouTube here.
For those living in walking distance to our Village Shop and Post Office, it is still open for milk, bread and other essentials. It is also still able to offer a full Post Office service. Staff operate from behind a protective screen and a limited number of people are allowed in the shop at any one time. Hand-washing facilities are available outside the shop and please use them before entering.
Animals still need feeding, lambing is a priority and farmers still need to get animals to market so farmers on the Estate are still working very hard. For a little insight into life on a farm at the moment – why not head over to Hesketh Farm Park’s Facebook page?
Meanwhile, our own Forestry Team continues to maintain the woodland (while social distancing) and are still operating their log delivery service to the local community. A few of our Grounds Maintenance staff are also still working to maintain the grounds ready for the day it is safe to reopen. A huge thank you to them.
We hope you find this useful if you are local to us and, if you are reading from further afield, that it gives you a little insight into life here on the Estate for the time being.
We’ve really missed welcoming everyone to Bolton Abbey over the last few weeks but we look forward to the day it is safe to reopen our gates. Stay safe and, where you can, support local!
