Outdoor Theatre returns to Bolton Abbey this summer!

Thursday 10 July – Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor

Falstaff is skint. He attempts to seduce two merchants’ wives hoping to relieve them of money. But when Mistress Page and Mistress Ford receive identical love letters, they vow to teach him a lesson he’ll never forget! Sensational international-award-winning Illyria guarantee a night of laughter and hijinks under the stars.

Running time: 140-minutes (approximately), including a 20-minute interval.

Suitability: Suitable for all ages.

Saturday 30 August – Wind in the Willows

Mole yearns to explore the wide world. Badger enjoys peace and quiet. Rat likes just messing about in boats. Their idyllic lives on the Riverbank are turned upside down when Toad reveals his latest obsession: a motor-car! Multiple award-winning Illyria celebrates Kenneth Grahame’s classic tale in the great British outdoors.

Running time: 100-minutes (approximately), including a 20-minute interval.

Suitability: Ages 5+ (younger children also welcome).

  • Capacities are limited and all tickets must be booked in advance.
  • This is a ticketed event – access will not be granted to those without tickets
  • Please park in Bolton Abbey Car Park at Bolton Abbey
  • Free parking on production of your ticket (after gates open at 5pm).
  • Please bring your own seating and weather appropriate clothing.
  • Food and drinks will be available to purchase on site, however you are welcome to bring a picnic.
  • Lavatories will be available on site
  • Only assistance dogs are allowed within the arena
