Self-Guided Visits

Bolton Abbey is a stunning location for a self-guided school visit.

Here at Bolton Abbey we have implemented a number of safety measures across the estate and ask that all visitors follow this guidance. You will find the information here:

With ample coach parking in Bolton Abbey car park and lavatories, it is only a short walk to the ancient priory ruins and the River Wharfe. It is a particularly good location for a year 7 group as you can cover history, geography (tourism) and R.E. within an easily walkable distance.

Alternatively you can enjoy a walk alongside the river to the Cavendish Pavilion and then return past the Priory Ruins to the car park Link to map? This route follows the welly walk (in place from May half term until October half term) providing the perfect opportunity for adventure.
