Guided visits at Bolton Abbey are tailored to enrich the topics you're studying – whatever the stage.

Here at Bolton Abbey we have implemented a number of safety measures across the estate and ask that all visitors follow this guidance. You will find the information here: boltonabbey.com/book-tickets-online

We offer a range of outdoor educational workshops suitable for primary schools, linked to the national curriculum from reception to year 6.

The sessions are led by our Outdoor Learning Officer, who is a qualified teacher and a forest school leader. The team combine the pure enjoyment of being outdoors, with a memorable learning experience in order to enrich and enhance the work done at school.

Our school trips are accredited by the Children’s University, stamps can be given on completion of the activities.

The price is £3.50 per child. Adults are free on a ratio of 1:6.

Risk Assessments

You are responsible for conducting your own risk assessment. One prebooked visit for a teacher to write the risk assessment is included with your booking, please email education@boltonabbey.com to arrange.

We recommend you cover:

  • Road crossing
  • The stepping stones (use the bridge instead)
